A mobile network operator required VAS platform capability to expand its service portfolio. The Project Office delivered platform integration and infrastructure readiness through a documented deployment programme.

Project Profile

Sector: Mobile Network Operations — Value-Added Services Infrastructure Scope: End-to-end VAS platform enablement, systems integration, and go-live support for a Tier-1 mobile network operator Geography: National rollout across Ghana Engagement Type: Managed advisory and technical integration

A Tier-1 mobile network operator operating at national scale commissioned Kronix Telecom to design, configure, and operationalise a multi-service VAS platform capable of supporting a growing portfolio of subscriber-facing services. The operator required a structured partner — not simply a vendor — one with the integration discipline and documentation rigour their subscriber base and regulatory obligations demanded.

Specification Challenge

The operator’s legacy VAS environment had accumulated technical debt across several service layers: billing interfaces that did not communicate cleanly with the core network, content delivery pipelines running without fault-tolerance protocols, and subscriber management workflows that produced inconsistent audit trails at handover.

The incoming platform needed to unify these layers while remaining live. A cold-migration approach was not commercially viable — the operator could not suspend subscriber services. Every integration milestone had to be executed against a running production environment, with documented rollback procedures for each phase.

Compounding the complexity, the operator’s internal IT team and the platform vendor operated on different integration languages. Kronix Telecom was engaged precisely to function as the mediation layer — technically fluent on both sides, accountable for the handover record.

Approach

Kronix Telecom initiated the engagement with a structured discovery phase: cataloguing every active service endpoint, mapping data flows between the billing stack and the VAS layer, and identifying fault-risk junctions before any configuration work began.

A phased integration schedule was produced and reviewed with the operator’s technical governance committee. Each phase carried a defined entry condition, completion criterion, and signed-off documentation package before the subsequent phase commenced.

Platform configuration proceeded in a controlled staging environment mirroring the live network topology. Subscriber-facing services were migrated in cohorts, with monitoring protocols active at each boundary. Fault events during staging were logged, root-cause documented, and resolved before any cohort was promoted to production.

Throughout the engagement, Kronix Telecom maintained a shared integration register — updated at every milestone — accessible to both the operator’s internal team and the platform vendor. No verbal handover was accepted in place of documented confirmation.

Outcome

The platform went live on schedule, with subscriber-facing services remaining uninterrupted across the migration window. Billing interface integrity was confirmed across all active service categories. The operator’s internal IT team inherited a fully documented platform architecture — configuration records, integration maps, escalation procedures, and operational runbooks — structured for ongoing management without external dependency.

The engagement also surfaced three legacy service pathways that had been generating silent billing anomalies. These were isolated, documented, and resolved as part of the integration scope.

What This Project Demonstrates

VAS platform enablement at national operator scale is not a configuration exercise — it is a governance discipline. The risk is not in the technology. The risk is in the gaps: undocumented handovers, untested rollback paths, integration assumptions that hold in staging and break under live subscriber load.

Kronix Telecom operates as the integration authority that closes those gaps — process-led, documented at every handover, and accountable across the full engagement lifecycle. For mobile operators in Ghana and Togo managing platform transitions, that discipline is not optional. It is the specification the project demands.
